Since I had the opportunity to go to an event with the Dalai Lama, religious leader of the Tibetan people, I would like all of us to think about compassion and how we can practice that in our own life. We have just read a story that shows the difficult struggle of Native American people when children were taken from their homes to be educated and changed away from their culture and family. In these one hundred years since Zitkala-sa wrote her story, we have changed, but the passage of time has shown us many other places where we can learn about and practice compassion for each other in our class and others in the world.
I hope you all have a good weekend. Remember to read "My English" by Alvarez and bring your Reading Journal on Monday.
